Looking Back At 2010 and Forward to 2011
To all of our customers we want to thank you for the business that you allowed for us to provide to you and we look forward to working with you in the future.
As we enter 2011 we must look back to 2010 and compile lessons learned before we can look forward and make predictions.

2010 turned out to be a good year for both sales recovery and the bottom line results. We are following an upward trend, though we have not returned to pre-recession levels. In the past 2 years we have cut costs and added new and very efficient equipment and new capabilities. I must say that I am very proud of our entire staff from top to bottom everyone has contributed to the improving results.

On the customer side we added more new accounts and sales from new accounts in 2010 than we had in any of the prior three years. 

While all of this is encouraging, we need a report card from our customers and our employees providing feedback as to our true Company performance. This is how we will be judged in the long run. Every other year we send out a Customer Satisfaction Survey and an Employee Satisfaction Survey. We will be sending out 3 surveys: Can/packaging customers, Lithography customers and Employees. All 3 surveys will go out the first week in January and we are hoping for a 100% participation from all groups.

We take all of these surveys very seriously and will report the results in the future What's New editions.  If you do not get a survey and want one, please send me an email: rickh@independentcan.com.
It is our opinion that we provided excellent service this past year although we know that we are not perfect. When we make mistakes we expect to be judged by how well we respond and correct the situations. If you have examples of where we did an exceptional job of fixing a problem, or where we did not, please pass these examples back to us so that we can review both the good and the bad. We will learn a lot more from our mistakes than from where we do things correctly.
In 2010 we added new tooling and processes along with new automation, and we also refurbished traditional equipment which all contributed to the results. We are just now beginning to identify the key projects for 2011. We have some exciting new capabilities coming that we will be able to talk about as the year progresses. We will be investing in all business segments.
 
New Products: New products are the life blood of any organization and we are no different. We have added a new Heart Shaped tin which everyone is very excite about. This is not an easy tin shape to make and our mechanics did an outstanding job at launching this new tool to meet a critical customer’s needs.

2011 stock tin catalogue: The new catalogue will be out in the next week or two so please contact your sales representative if you have immediate needs. Many of the new designs are printed and will be available shortly. Images of these new designs are available in our online catalog.

In closing, we want to again thank all of our very important customers for their loyalty. We know that you have choices when it comes to packaging. We are also aware that you have many choices as to where you buy your tins, and that you have a choice as to whether to use a tin, box, plastic container, form-fill bags etc. We are working very hard to make our supply as cost effective and easy as is possible.
